Bryony and Matt have spent five years planning the perfect North Cornish family beach house, complete with its own surfboard room. But they’ve only given themselves one year to finish, despite the house aiming for passive house standards and construction of the irregular frame to be done almost entirely on site and by hand. Alongside the build, there’s also busy family life. With two young children and Matt working two days a week in London, 250 miles away, the pressure is on.

As the intricate structure goes up their dream of bringing a slice of California surfer chic to the Cornish coast starts to gnaw at their eight hundred and twenty thousand pound budget. Matt, a CFO for an environmental energy company, keeps a close eye on the bottom line and the functionality of this state of the art home. Bryony however, despite being a novice when it comes to interiors, is focused on making her mark - with disco balls and a state of the art laundry delivery system high on the wish list. It’s clear turning their vision for a joyous high tech home into a reality will take every ounce of inner strength and togetherness they possess.
